For the first time, we donated a piano to a school in Nairobi, Kenya. The Magoso School serves almost 500 kids, including orphans, mentally challenged, and troubled children in Kibera, Africa’s largest slum. Many of the kids are musically gifted, and the school has won national awards at the Kenya Music Festival. The piano will be a welcome addition! It took 2 years to arrange this P+1 program. The piano itself was donated by the Aiyinsi Piano Centre in Guangzhou. Teachers and students had a beautiful sending off ceremony in March, during which the students presented numerous letters and cards for the Magoso School Children. The School director, Mrs Shen said, “This piano is very dear to me. Through the Foundation and our school, we can spread the message of love to children in Africa!.”
We cannot emphasize how challenging it was to find a piano and arrange the shipping. But thanks to volunteers including Mrs Shen, Joyce, and Mr Van Chan in China and Goodie Odiambo and Mama Lillian in Kenya, we saved thousands of dollars in expenses and have brought happiness to hundreds of children.
